Overview and Expectations - Understanding Outcomes of Practice

Results from Internal Kung Fu training sometimes match expectations, sometimes not. Outcomes from the harmonious refinement of the mental and physical are counterintuitive and surprising. Keeping an open mind - the mind of the beginner - is essential to continued progress.

Personalized assessment and feedback is detailed and delivered in plain terms. Students wishing to move through curriculum will keep a weekly training journal or blog on this site, as well as submit video for movement evaluation.

The Chi Factory is designed expressly to help you avoid investing money, time and effort only to discover that what you have been training is a sham or not useful in daily life. If you are on the fence about Chi Factory, please consider that fact that finding a good teacher is very difficult when you know nothing about your intended study. At the very least, commit to complete Stage 1 of Chi Factory syllabus.

After completion of Stages 1 and 2 those who do not want to continue on with training will be able to tell if another program has the goods. Nothing is worse than committing yourself to something, only to find out that you were wasting your time. The curriculum is continuous and ongoing. Those committed students who train 3 times per week outside of class, will find e best results and move quickly through the material.

After Stage 2 is compete and movemet has been closely evaluated, dedicated students are eligible to access UCB Program Live classes online.

Stage 1 - Manifest Tai Chi Principles - Balancing Yin and Yang in The Body To Relax.

This class is self paced with live review sessions. Students who practice 3 times per week outside of class usually have the skills needed to move on to Stage 2 in 15 to 20 weeks. Class duration is 55 - 65 minutes.

    Theory is useless without something to practice. The first week begins with standing meditation and our core chi kung exercise: "Swallowing the Bitter Pill - The Pearl of Mount Hua".

Stage 2 - Tai Chi Foundations 16 Week Course - The Reflective Receiver

Materials presented are for anyone who has completed Stage 1. 

Each week we cover one topic. Topics are grouped and follow a clear and straightforward progression. Continue to improve your health & fitness using Traditional Internal Kung Fu Techniques including:

  • I Liq Chuan (Mental-Physical Fist) - Feeling All 13 Points on the Body
  • Recognizing Wu Chi Mental state and the bones to find Neutral in the Body
  • Understanding the relationship between seated and standing meditation
  • Catching and training to maintain the 'Internal Feel'. The suchness of the body.

Theory is useless without something to practice. Each week we go deeper and add a bit more to our training syllabus.

Wear loose clothing and comfortable shoes. You can train barefoot, but it's optional. Make sure you get plenty of water. Expect little or no sweating, but you will flush toxins out and lots of water is needed.

Stage 2 Classes have 60 to 90 minute duration.

Ongoing - Live UCB Program classes, Partner Practice, Retreats and Intensives

LIVE Online class duration 2.5 - 3 hours, 3 times per week.

Many will find that Ongoing practice offers everything they need or want. Others will want to continue on. Find a partner in your area, build a study group or bring out Kelley Graham to lead a workshop in your area. Other Chi Factory workshops will announced on this site.

For those who want to travel, private instruction is an option and at least once a year public training opportunities are available. The Chi Factory is located in Tucson, Arizona and has been developed by Kelley Graham to augment the UnCarved Block Program. http://ucbprogram.com

Class Times

The Chi Factory is a self paced program of study with regular live reviews and special broadcasts.

1st Sunday - 1:30p - 4:45p
First Sunday of each month is live Sit and Spin Half Day Meditation - Questions are taken at that time, otherewise support is offered via email or online. It's great if you can have a partner with whom to train during this class. The partner need not be a Chi Factory student. A sitting cushion is also a good idea. Occasionally the Live session will fall on another Sunday or be cancelled altogether. Watch the Upcoming Events listing for date changes.
